I'm a holistic plant based nutritionist and have been vegan for six years. I completed my Bachelor of Nutrition through the University of the Sunshine Coast and am passionate about educating people how to thrive and achieve their health goals on a plant-based diet. If a total plant based diet isn't for you, that's ok, I can show you how to incorporate more plants into your existing diet.
Menopause is a time of change where women may experience bloating and weight gain, especially around the abdomen. A shift in hormones along with other factors such as poor diet, sleep deprivation and stress can leave many women feeling exhausted and unmotivated leading to a reduction in self-confidence. Menopause is a natural part of life but can be one of the toughest times a woman faces as she starts to feel a sense of loss. "Loss of Self" I get it, I have been there, and it's NOT fun!
The good news is, you CAN kiss that belly fat, and bloating goodbye and boost your energy levels with good nutrition and self-care. Recent studies have found that a balanced plant-based diet combined with nurturing the parasympathetic nervous system can not only shred those extra kilos but also correct hormone imbalances and menopause symptoms. In addition, a plant-based diet supports a reduction in high blood pressure and cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart disease. At Inner Nutshell Nutrition, my practice is based on 5 holistic principles that support sustainable results. These are:

By the time I turned 50, I had gone through menopause and gained over 12 kilos. Despite eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly, my belly was so bloated that it looked like I was pregnant. What I didn't know at the time was that stress played a major role in my hormonal imbalance. The late nights and long hours I spent staring at the computer completing Uni assignments and lack of restorative sleep was causing a surge in the stress hormone "cortisol". My body was in survival mode but once I understood my hormones better and applied some nurturing changes to my lifestyle, I have since lost 16kg and found ME again!!!

I have worked in disability support for over 11 years with experience in mental health and have a teacher aide background with a cert III in Education Support. Working in special education I have worked with a range of disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Autism & ADHD. Good nutrition is essential for life and the skill of food preparation promotes health and independence. I offer one on one plant-based cooking lessons in the participant's home, ideal for individuals who find group classes overwhelming or have difficulty accessing activities outside the home. Lessons are modified to suit level of ability and are available to self-managed and plan managed participants. I provide a relaxed yet structured environment and am focused on providing a fun and positive experience. I am fully insured, have a current NDIS worker screening yellow card and working with children blue card.
